Settesoli comprises a dynamic community of small families growing grapes on the sun-drenched
western flank of the island of Sicily, opposite Etna and south of Palermo. They are fiercely organic and
eco-sustainable, pulling their energy from 45,000 feet of solar panels, recycling all their waste, and
employing 100% local workers during the harvest season. The community also funds the program to
preserve and restore the Greco-Roman archeological site of the city of Selinunte, the largest
archeological site in Europe.
The pinot grigio is entirely hand harvested in August, destemmed, and aged in steel for three months.
The result is a warm, generous, sapid wine of pale gold with notes of apricot pit, white peach,
elderflower, and high-toned acidity. The winemakers recommend grilled vegetables, seafood salad, and
even an asparagus omelet as food partners. (Jenny)
